2020 Champions!!!
Congratulations to our 2020 Upshur County Men's Basketball League presented by Harper Lumber & Building Supply champions, Ralph's Furniture! They finished the season undefeated and were great competitors throughout. Would like to take this time to thank all those who made this league possible: from all our great sponsors, to the UCRC staff, Stockert Youth and Community Center staff members (Chelsea and Makayla), our lone WVSSAC Referee Mike Burgess who reffed EVERY single game, Nicholas Casey and Bill Lilly for filling in for many games as our additional ref, along with all the players who stepped in to help out!
I'd also like to thank Duane Carpenter and The Record Delta for covering all the games in the sports section and Roberta Hatcher for taking all the photos, as well as Katie Kuba and Monica Zalaznik and the folks at My Buckhannon for their support in helping us promote the league as well. Without all of your help, we would not have had the participation that we received and the sponsors would not have received the recognition they deserved for stepping up and helping out in such difficult times!
I also need to thank Chad Marsh and On Point Athletics, LLC for etching our Championship cups and a big thanks to Courtney Page and Stone Tower Brews - Buckhannon for the gift cards! Each player on the winning team received a custom Ozark Trail cup and a $10 gift card to Stone Tower Brews!

Welcome to the 2020 Men's Summer Basketball League in Upshur County. The league will play outdoors this summer due to COVID-19. Below is the calendar for all the games and the locations and times when they will be played. The calendar will be updated periodically.

Covid-19 Update for Men’s League Basketball
Due to the uptick of Covid-19 in the state and specifically Upshur County, we have updated our guidelines for Men’s League Basketball. We feel that it is in the best interest of all players, referees or persons participating in the league operations that any person who tests positive for Covid-19 will be excluded for the remainder of the season. Any participant who is in direct contact with a person who tested positive or who has traveled from a known Covid-19 hotspot must abstain from playing and/or participating in games for 7 days from last exposure. We believe it is in the best interest of all persons involved to have the player abstain from playing games for 7 days as this is the standard of care for all major hospitals in the area with employees who have come into contact with a person diagnosed with Covid-19. We do not wish to create unnecessary turmoil. We hope everyone understands that the nature of this pandemic is largely unknown. The flow of information is ever-changing and fluid. We are trying to make the best choice for the entire league, as well as our community.
These guidelines apply equally to all participants. We have had multiple participants go above and beyond these guidelines by sitting out for 14 days, per CDC recommendations.
The UCRC does not feel the detriment of suspending any participant outweighs the potential risk of spreading Covid-19 in our community. We stand by our core vision, which is to bring a full-scale recreation complex to our community for all ages to enjoy and wish to further reiterate our goal and commitment to the county and all its patrons.

League Rules
The Men's Summer Basketball League will follow WVSSAC rules. We will use 20 minute halves with a running clock. Dead balls will only stop the clock under 4 minutes in the 2nd half. Teams can agree to call the game at any point in the 2nd half as long as both teams agree. If a team gets 2 technical fouls, that game is a forfeit. If a player gets 3 technicals over the course of the season, they will be removed from the league.
COVID mitigations steps will include no hand-shaking before or after any game, social distancing while on the bench and any spectators are encouraged to wear masks. We have removed the rule that a player must play in half the team's games in order to be eligible in the playoffs to encourage players to stay home after traveling as the Governor has ordered and if there's any symptoms that pop up they can quarantine and still come back after the required time period.
Team rosters and all team fees are due by the end of the 2nd week of games.
